The University of Texas San Antonio
As embedded experts, faculty and doctoral students from the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching worked hand in hand with faculty in Biomedical, Civil and Environmental, and Electrical and Computer Engineering to transform undergraduate STEM education. This interdisciplinary approach to course transformation focuses on developing student competencies in math, chemistry, and the physical sciences through the refinement of course and topic goals, assessment of student learning, and alignment of objectives and assessments. The TRESTLE team worked to incorporate evidence-based strategies, formative assessments, peer assisted learner models, project-based learning, and critically relevant pedagogy to improve student engagement and learning outcomes in UTSA engineering courses.
